We know that planning a wedding can be overwhelming. It can be difficult to find the perfect vendors and make sure that you have asked all of the right questions. We are launching a new series featuring some of our favorite questions to ask that you might not be thinking about. Each post in this series will feature a different vendor category and help give you a starting point to make sure you have everything you need for your big day!
For your Caterer...
Food and drinks are a huge focus of your special day. There are so many different serving options and menu choices that it can all seem very overwhelming. Here is a list of our favorite questions to ask any catering managers that you may be interested in.
How much experience have you had with weddings?
Have you handled events of my type and size?
Are you licensed?
Do you offer a taste testing? Is there an extra cost?
Do you provide waiting staff? What is the staff-to-guest ratio?
How much time do you need for setup?
What is the staff dress code?
What kind of kitchen facilities do you require?
How many menu selections do you have? What is the cost?
What type of serving options do you have? (Buffet, Plated, Stations, Family style)
Are china, glassware, and utensils included or an extra rental fee?
Do you have a lower-priced vendor meal?
Is there a service charge? What is included in that charge, if so?
Do you provide alcohol and other beverages?
Do you have a liquor license? Do you have Liability insurance?
Do you provide a bartender and drinkware?
Is there a corkage fee for wine and champagne?
What is the bartender-to-guest ratio?
Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?
Is there a special menu and pricing for children?
Do you specialize in a particular food or service style?
When would my headcount be due?
Do you offer hors d'oeuvres? What is the cost?
If so, are the hors d'oeuvres passed or stationary?
